I've had a a go with the wire brush on a drill although the most part of this was solid it was a lot more corroded under the arch liner and there is a few small holes what should I do next? Please no silly answers like 'scrap it' do I need to get it welded? Also what other trouble spots is there for rust

With the holes you should cut out the rest of the rust (the bits that at bubbled up) and weld a new plate in. Then seal all the bare metal.

Check the bottom of the inside of the doors, they tend to rust away aswell.

So just cut out the small areas? Or would cutting out the whole price and welding in a whole price? I don't understand why it like it is the car has allways had arch liners in!

    Happens to most saxos/late 106s

It seems the olddd s1 106s managed to dodge it. I think D4MJTs s1 got away with it like.

    Also check
the front inner arch seem with the chassis rail.
the inside of the front suspension turrets.
the rear cross member in front of the rear axle by the clips that hold the brake pipe.
