Was doing some work on the car the other day and had to remove bottom pully and bottom pully for the timing belt. There was a sort of washer between the pully and the crankshaft seal that was cracked.. can anyone tell what this washer if for and if it is needed? Its a jp4 engibe thanks

#2you mean the ring the oil seal runs on ?
yes it is needed
its not a washer or spacer
it should have a flange on it
made from very hard steel so the seal does not wear a groove in it and then the seal would not work any more -
