Clutch problems

Had a replacement valeo clutch last august and it would appear that its nearing the end of its life which is mad. Can't imagine it would be this quick. Done around 15k miles.

I'm not excessively heavy footed and never ride the clutch.

Bite point is mega high and even if my foot moves towards the pedal the clutch starts to lift.

Had a play around with the cable in the engine bay and understand it only adjusts the pedal height but could a worn cable also produce these problems?

If the cable is tightened to much this will cause premature wear to the friction disc.
When you had the clutch replaced was the biting point very high?
Slacken the adjuster nuts on the cable a few turns to lower the biting point.
One of these clutches should be good for at least 80k if it's not abused.

as long as it dont slip under heave load, its probably where it's bedded in, my bite point raised a fair bit after a few thousand, it may have them stupid auto adjusters for the clutch cable like my xsara had.

you tuned the nuts off it? not sure how much a factory vtr clutch will handle.

i do know, that if you remove the crank sensor, you can see the clutch, plenty of eye room, get a mate to put his foot on the clutch and you should be able to get a peek at the friction material and get a rough idea of how much is left.

only other thing i can think of, is that the flywheel has some high/low spots and has eaten into the clutch, would surprise me a little though.

may very well just be a stretched clutch cable.

    Adjust it then.

Fail post, didnt see last bit.

I'm not sure if i'm adjusting it incorrectly but it doesn't particularly change the biting point, just the clutch pedal height. I'll take the crank sensor out and have a check but I don't remember the bite point being low after it was installed. Think it's always been high.
    Cheers for the suggestions guys.

Slacken the adjuster nuts right off until the cable is loose tighten the nuts by hand until the slack is taken up tighten 1 more turn with a spanner and try the clutch.
If the biting point is now to low or you can't select a gear with the engine running tighten the adjuster nuts 3 or 4 more turns at a time.
With the crank sensor removed you can't see the friction plate.
