Multiple electronics stopped working at same time

    Hi all,

Have got a few issues with my saxo vtr 2001 at the moment. Almost all of them I noticed within a few days of each other, so I think it all happened at the same time.

___ Below all noticed within the space of few days ___

    1. Horn is not working.

    2. Rear window demister is not working.

    3. Window washers are not working.

___ Below has been issue for a while ___

    4. Wipers only properly work on speed 3.

    _____

With first 3, I have checked all the fuses and they appear ok. Cigarette lighter works, electric windows work, all lights work, radio works, all dash works, heaters work, electric steering works.

Looking through my haynes manual, if it were fuses, some of the things I have listed should also stop working?

Horn, nothing happens at all. Cant hear any "clicking" in the fuse box.

Demister, the passenger connection gets warm, the driver connection does not. Either way, the window does not get cleared. Dash button lights up as it should.

Washers, cant hear motor whir, nothing happens. Window wipers work, but this leads me to issue number four which has been happening for a while, gradually getting worse.

Noticed about 7 or 8 months ago, my front window wiper would not work on speed 1. At time, didnt worry too much. Few months back, speed 2 stopped working and so did single wipe. These will work if I hold/push the stick slightly in towards the steering wheel. Rear wiper works fine. Speed 3 works fine.

I am guessing this is all tied to electrics, whether it be fuses, relays, or wiring. Hoping some of you guys can shed some light on this as my knowledge is quite limited on this stuff.

I am hoping as all of the top 3 happened at the same time (likely) that they are related and its a simple fix.

Got my MOT in November and I already know I need to splash out some cash on a few things, so could really do with this being a cheap fix!

Anyone got any ideas about number 4? I am leaning towards a dodgy connection to the stick behind the wheel?

    Thanks in advance guys.

Problems 1,3 and 4 could certainly be caused by faulty connections to the stalks on the steering column. Have you tested for a voltage at the horn and washer motor connectors whilst an assistant presses them? if you don't get any voltage the stalks would be the next place to check.
Don't worry about problem 2 for MOT.

Also check the connectors on the rear sreen for voltage if you have voltage at the conectors the heater circuit on the screen will have a break this can be repaired with conductive paint.
If you there is no voltage check the components and wiring.

If possible run a live to the horn to test it, the way they're fitted allows water to be splashed inside them eventually breaking them. I recently had the same problem so i replaced and relocated the horn higher up using the same wiring and worked fine.
