Lighter steering

   Just curious to know if anyone has lightened the steering on their saxo?
   
   Is there a way of making the PAS pump more effective or replacing it with a more effective one?

   Not really, if the PAS is working properly then the steering is pretty light.
   
   If yours is heavy chances are your PAS pump is on its way out, very common on Saxos.
   
   Easy to fix though.

   lighten it more? fuck me, i skinny 5 year old could easily turn the steering in a non pas one. your pumps fucked or you need to grow a pair

   Something's gotta be wrong with it if you think its heavy. I could turn mine with my little finger no problem at all

   I had a shot in my mates 2010 Fiesta and the steering in it was waaayy lighter than the saxos. Obviously it's a more effective and modern power steering system, but the difference was definitely noticeable.
   
   Also, the PAS pump makes a whining noise, is this just another Saxo thing that owners put up with?

   Mines ok until I turn one way then very quickly turn back the other way, as I change direction quickly it gets very heavy....is that pump goner?

   Same issue, only when at crawling speeds or stationary...

    Check the fluid before writing off the pump.

    I had a problem with my little 1.1 back in the day. Turned out it was the gray housing where the relay plugs into, had to rewire it.

    You can drill the steering rack which alters the perssure
    
    do not recommend doing that DIY , but we used to do it for motability conversions.
