special tool required for throttle adjustment ?

  1. #1
i wonder if there is a specific Citroen / Peugeot tool available for the throttle adjusting screw ?
it seems to be a Torx but no regular spanner socket fits as there is just a tight case

regulary there is no need to adjust it( as ii was already told .... ) but it seems as if the prev owner of my saxo vts 1,6 16v did some stupid adjustment
no the car has got an idle of around 1100rpm and the rpm does not go down as it should when shifting

Idle control valve sounds like the problem.

However, if you're using a spanner to undo a torx then that's you're problem...the special tool for a torx is called....wait for it....a torx socket

idle valve is cleaned and checked - seems to work fine
would a bad idle valve result i a lumpy idle going up and down and not beeing constantly high ?

sorry for my bad technical english i just call it Spammer
it is not a matter of finding a Torx
but they are too big - but not Torxwise - they won t fit there is not much space ...

Put the torx bit into the hole, then use an open ended spanner to turn the torx bit.

    Stevo
that would be THE way to do it !
but no torx bit goes into the hole as they nearly the same size as the hole itself

and it is a ( german word for it ) Outside Torx ....

You'll probably need a minature torx set, they're usually in really really cheap screwdriver/socket sets.

if it would be a torx like this, that would be a lot easier....

You need e torx sockets any good tool shop will sell them.

    A little bit off subject?

I don't think you could get further off subject unless you were asking about gay porn.

Start a new thread and give as much detail as possible

Yes, A bad icv is a pretty common problem, change it and see it cures it, mine used to do the same thing

You should never have to play with that, the problem will be elsewhere.

First of all a big thank you to all

Cam i know that i should never play with that screw
and as far as i know there is a cover on it so that you never ever think about
but it is just an idea i got from another Citroen/Peugeot driver as a possible solution

@Damsk11: a bad icv is a common problem but i read through all the threads and my problem is a not the same i think:
fine and smooth idle - just at around 1100rpm
rpm does not go down ( as usual) when shifting
and some kind of " cruise control " when lifting the heavy pedal

rpm is not going up and down and up again
no problems with cold or warm start

was it the same with yours ?

Mine had a lumpy idle, it would go from 1100 to 500, just idled lumpy like that
  19. #19
    that is mine not doing
nice and smooth just more rpm than it should....

The other things causing high idle would be a faulty throttle position sensor(next to idle control valve)or a vacuum leak.
  21. #21
throttle position sensor is completely new
thanks Steve vacuum leak is another good hint
  22. #22
Vehicle speed sensor can also cause it.

@ Monka: i have never paid attention to this sensor, what may be the connection to my problem?
