engine wont start , ecu problem?

    hi all,
bought an engine from a friend who unlocked the ecu by taking the imobiliser out when running, after putting it in it didnt work, it was sent of to blue hawk electronics to be wiped, when i got it back the fuel pump still doesnt prime, and the imobiliser light is still flashing - i didnt think it would with the ecu being unlocked? anyways i took the imobilser out which stopped the flashing. could i have locked my ecu again or would it have been permanelty unlocked? none the less fuel pump still not priming and engine wont start.
i am not sure how to test the fuel pump to see if its getting power, i have a multimeter but not suure which wire is the live?
could it be a dodgy earth somewhere?
anyone have any ideas im nearly there

oh also forgot checked fuse 9 for the fuel pump it seemed fine.
where is its relay, could it be that?

Does fuse 9 still have power when the engine is cranked?
Power goes from the injection relay to fuse 9 to the fuel pump.
The fuel pump may still prime when the key is turned on when the car is imobilised but no power when cranked.

Did you take the immobiliser unit out if your car when you fitted the new ECU?

I had the same problem check the wires on the starter because if they are doggy it will flash the immo light and wont prime.

i didnt remove it after it was sent back - as i didnt think i would need to. i dont think i could have locked it again as surely after £85 it would be permanetly unlocked.
and thanks laurynas i will try that tomorrow.
and i will check the fuse

Only wont re-lock if the pins been removed.

it was sent of to blue hawk to be unlocked so is that what your saying? thats surely what they would have done?

Probably not. You need to remove the immobiliser, its a two second job.

Okay. Rookie mistake, never plugged in the cut off switch. So I've now managed to get the fuel pump to prime but still not starting. If it's priming would that mean the ecu is unlocked ?? And what else can I check??

I had something similar, the pump primed, it turned over but wouldn't start.

I spent 2 weeks changing sensors, in the end I bought an OBD thing from ebay, cleared the faults and it started straight up.

    Worth a shot?

Okay I got it started!!! Sooooo happy. Basically I had the front jacked up and because there was little amount of fuel the fuel pump couldn't pick any up. It's started now and oh my does it sound good.
