Important! : 1.1 conversion misfire :( please help

okay hi again, im currently working on a 1.1 to vtr conversion - my first engine change so im getting stuck in. Engine is in it runs but misfires, when i get her on the road there were points where i thought it was running out of fuel and it wouldnt like accelerating. then it broke down and the aa came, turns out i had put the fuel filter on backwards ages ago and it began starving the engine of fuel.
new filter on, and round the correct way (arrow pointing to the back of the car), still no luck it felt good like it wasnt being starved of fuel, but the misfire is still there and when i put my foot down it sounds like a tractor and stays like that for a while.
Its a 3 plug multipoint vtr engine in 1.1 desire - its got a supersprint 4-2-1 which has a lambda sensor plugged in at the top and then i have cable tied the second one behind the bumper next to the fan, could that be causing the problem?
at the moment the fan is not wired up as the vtr loom has a different plug on it and wont fit my 1.1 fan.
and also the radiator has nothing wired to it, the plug on the loom also doesnt fit, i dont suppose this could be causing any problems?
okay lastly for some reason i hope some one can me but the rev counter dont work the speedo doesnt work and nor does the temperature gauge.
there are alot of issues i know but if i can get it driveable without the misfire i can take it to work and sort it all out.
1 more thing how bad can it be for the engine to drive it round with a misfire
    please helpp me someone (:

i put my 1.1 coil pack on it and still the same could it be the plugs?
would starving the engine of fuel ruin an injector?
could there be serious issue like the valves not seating right or something

Hey buddy, your using the ECU/engine loom for the vtr correct? for the instruments to work, you need the interior loom for a vtr, yes you need both lambda sensors in, i'd then suggest giving it a service, and going over everything.

I didn't think I would need interior loom. It's same year. And can anyone help?????

    There are soooooooooooooooooo many possibilities.

    Could be:
    plugs
    head gasket
    rings
    crank sensor
    temp sensor
    fucked ECU
    Injectors
    Wiring issues

You'll need to eliminate some possibilities before we can help
