Vts wheels on a Vtr insurance

  1. #1
Wondering if anyone can shed some light on the problem I'm currently facing.

I had a bump recently and the third party is claiming. I have vehicle assessors coming to inspect my vehicle next week. The car currently has the vts wheels on it, I'm wondering if this will be classed as a modification with the car being a vtr. I have a set of vtr wheels which I could put on the car however I don't want the photographs the inspector will take to conflict with the photos the third party took at the scene.

    Any info will be appreciated!

If it didn't leave the factory with them on, then it's a modification. So yes.

Just bang vts wheels on it will be sound

Leave it as is, if the mistake has been made then trying to deliberately cover it up is fraud and potentially far more serious

This and possibly lead to the policy being invalidated.

I very very much doubt they will notice, they are not aftermarket they are citreon oem.

Thanks again all, I'll just leave the vts wheels on and hope for the best. I was tempted to use the vtr's but Scott is quite right. Just have to bite the bullet now and hope they don't invalidate my insurance for having different wheels!

Have any of you had experience with causing an accident with undeclared modifications? If so what were the outcomes?

A car caught fire on the log book it was a 1.3.
When the insurance company inspected it it had a 1.6 engine in it.
The insurance still paid out as the owner had no idea that the engine had been swapped as this was done before he brought the car.

This. It's why you should just declare any mods - just not worth the risk. If you crash, you may get some numpty that doesn't know his arse for his elbow looking over the car and you'll be fine, or you could get someone taking photographs of the crash showing X, Y and Z modification in the cold light of day.

Complete luck of the draw IMO.

Haha my brother-in-law once had a Rover Coupe with an optional (and assumedly rare) sunroof and an insurance assessor tried to tell him it was an aftermarket modification... lol.

Any modification not declared could void an insurance policy.
There are millions of uninsured drivers on the road any car fitted with a non factory stereo that is not declared is uninsured.
The majotity of the public could not tell the difference between wheel a and wheel b.
And from a legal prospective a lot depends.on what you say to the insurance company when arranging the policy.
When the insurer asks if the vehicle is modified if you you reply there are no modifacations you are liable if the car turns out to be modified.
If your reply is to the best of my knowlege there are no modifications in legal terms you could not be held liable.
