Rough Running and Rubbing Wheel

  1. #1
    Two things:
    1. My VTR has done 79000 and I am just about to get the cambelt done. However the engine is running a little rough.. I don't think anything is actually broken or wrong with it I think its just a bit tired and worn out... Just sounds a bit ticky and loose, if you understand. Is there any parts that would sort this out, like new tappets or valves or belts or rings or something etc etc I do service it quite regularly I think it just needs to be tightend up again.

    2. I have recently changed the wheels from 14 to 15 inch same size tyres. however the front left (passenger side) when on full lock either way in REVERSE ONLY that one wheel rubs quite badly on something.. im not sure what it is.. i have had a look and think its the bodywork, so im just wondering if a set of spacers 10 -15 mm would fix this.

If anybody has experienced these problems before would appreciate your help.

    Cheers.

Get your timing belt done as its due along with the water pump and tensioner, six belt wouldn't hurt either. For you ticking sound, I can guarantee that you'll need to reset the tappets, have a search it's not hard to do and you'll notice a immediate difference.

As for your wheels, what size tyres.

Yeah i'll get them done aswell see if that makes a difference and the tyre sizes are 185/55/15

Tyre size is wrong. It should go down in profile when you fit a larger diameter wheel.

    The size for 15" wheels is 195 45 15.
