Back box don't fit centre pipe

    So tried fitting a new exhaust as old one is blowing.

    The contact between the rear of back box to centre pipe doesn't quite fit, back box hole is too small so when the clamp is tight the back box is loose and looks like it'll fall out.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    You have two female ends. You need an olive to sit in between. Piper backbox by any chance?

    P.s back box width is 55mm in diameter and centre pipe is 70mm.

    Aye mate, piper.

    Isn't the clamp I'm talking about the olive. It's 2 semi circles tightened together by nuts.

    Piper sell their backboxes with the outer clamp and an inner olive which bridges the two exhaust parts.

    maybe need a diffrent backbox that matches the centre pipe diameter even with a o ring and clamp im not sure it will hold as its 15mm difrence.

    whats the actual bore size of the two parts - not the diameter of the flanges

    thats what you will size your olive to. The clamp should be able to sit round the other two parts. Got any vernier calipers? I'm sure you could work it out by measuring the circumference with a bit of string..

    The back box is a 50mm bore. Not had a look at the centre pipe though.

    This also means I'm going to have to trim off the oversized lip from the end of the centre section right?

    I doubt it. Try the clamp over the top first and see if you can tighten it effectively

    Update:

    Thought I would post this up in case anyone else encounters this issue.

    Piper recommends these parts:
    sealing olive 256-840 £4.10
    And clamp to suit 254-930 £3.82

    I will order these items, fit them and post another update.
