Help, car won't start with throttle down and cuts out

  1. #1
I drove my car fine the night before, came to start it in the morning, it does fire, idles for 5 seconds, then the revs drop, then it dies, and it won't fire at all with the throttle down?

    So far I've changed:
    The spark plugs
    The map sensor
    Checked all vac pipes

    Any other ideas?

ICV might be a bit dirty, so give that a clean or get a new one

    I'll try it now

Just swapped the icv for another one off my many inlet manifolds lol! and it revs now and idles better, but it still has a tendency to drop the revs and sometimes stall, so I'm just putting it down to a shit icv, but better than the one I had.

    Cheers for the help mate!

hmm sounds like it could be something to do with the fuel. however i had this problem not long ago, all i did was clean my ICV and then went to college which was about half hour away, the whole way it tried to drop revs and stall but i kept the revs up every time i stopped and by the time i got to college it improved. Only my way back, the problem seemed to have corrected itself. So take it for a drive (don't go too far incase you break down) and hopefully the problem will rectify itself as it did with mine.:zany:

    hope it helps!

Well I forgot to mention it's a turbo charged vtr only running a basemap lol, proper mappings on Tuesday I think the tps has also shit itself as with it plugged in, it revs by itself to 2rpm then drops, but with it unplugged it idles spot on until revved then it sticks

might be worth giving the fps some attention too then haha!

FML, came to start it again in the morning to go to work, now doing the same thing, won't fire at all with the throttle down, without the throttle it idles for 5 seconds then dies, had to be the day before mapping ffs

Surly 3 icv sensors won't fail all at the same time -.-

    fuel filter
    fpr
    injectors?

So I focused on the sensors on the inlet, as i'm convinced that's my problem, map sensor, tps sensor ( used a mk1 one and spliced it in lol) and icv sensor ( 3 times) finally managed to get it idle without cutting out, and now it revs and drives, but as soon as it gets hot, on idle it sticks at 2rpm but under load it's fine,

I just hope to god it starts tomorrow morning for mapping session, then i'm probably going to buy 3 new sensors

Have you replaced the tps or worked on the wiring at any point?forget the last sentence lol.
