Odometer Stopped Working

  1. #1
Hello - I am hoping someone can help me.
I have a 1997 Citroen Saxo and she had low milage when I got her, 28000 - I know this is genuine milage as she had full service history to show this.

However she has just hit 29999 and the analogue odometer is stuck! I am sure it is just stuck as it's going over to the next 10,000 miles and I am hoping someone can help me and tell me how to give her a nudge to get her going again. The speedo and everything else still works - No problem there...

I have tried giving her a hard bang, resetting the trip meter (Also stuck at 0) a also read that disconnecting the battery sorts it - Nothing!

Please can someone help ? I have been informed by my MOT station that it is an MOT failure and I was quoted £300 by a garage to replace the whole instrument panel, but considering I paid less than that for the car I am not willing to do that. I'm sure it just needs some encouragement to move onto the next 10,000 but I don't know where to start. Please help

    Many Thanks,

time for new dials. check a scrapyard.

As previously stated I have been quoted £300 for that, however I am not prepared to do that as I paid less for the car.

All that needs doing is somehow manually rolling it forward to get it going again ... Can someone tell me how please...

New set of dials is about 15/20 quid on eBay and takes about 20 mins to replace, it's about 10 screws. The garage is trying to have your pants down.

Ive been told you can manually move it forward - I'd rather someone explain how I can do that rather that getting a different one and showing incorrect mileage.

I have looked on e-bay, the milage on all of them are 100,000 + - I don't particularly want that in my car which has only done 30,000

If there is a full history with car then there shouldn't be any issues as you've got proof of low mileage.
