Central locking question

  1. #1
    Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Probably a stupid question but don't want to fry all of the electrics in my car / blow all of the fuses lol

    Bought my car W reg VTR with VTS conversion and it had central locking, and locks smoothed off the doors. The central locking has since died. (99% sure it's the fob)

    Bought myself this off ebay since I'm sick of having to use a box strap to get in.

    I'm not interested in most of the features like indicators flashing, car locator etc just want it to open and close the doors.

    Could someone please confirm if the below is correct for the wiring on the brown plug that plugs into the central locking system.

    Ignition +15: Yellow
    Lock= Blue
    Unlock= Grey

    And if so is it just a case of connecting the "open signal" on the new box to grey, "close signal" to blue, positive to yellow and negative to earth?

    If I was you, then I'd make your life a hell of a load easier and send that kit back and buy a Hawk kit.

    Its a much better and really well known/used kit on this forum and there is a very detailed guide for installation. Especially handy if you are shit with wires like myself.

    The guide should help you with your kit in relation to which wires operate what on the central locking.

    Thanks mate it did got it working in the end.

    If anyone else is trying to fit one of these, you need to use the part of the instruction sheet for "negative trigger". It won't work without the standard box attached, you need to connect the positive to pin 1 on the standard plug, I used the bolt in the footwell for earthing it. Pins 5 and 7 are the lock/unlock that you need to join the lock/unlock wires from the new kit to (can't remember which way round but if it works backwards i.e. lock button on fob unlocks it and unlock button locks it just swap them).
