Thought i'd ask before I agree to help do the job (long post)....
My younger brother knows someone that has had abit of a smash in his vts, all I know it's been flipped and resulted in a write off, engine apparently runs etc but the blokes had it stored while thinking of breaking it.
My Bro knows I'm scrapping my little 1.1 very soon as my own vts is up to the standard I want it and ready to be used as a daily car and will be going on the road after christmas so he has asked if he can take mine off me and reshell his mates car as a project between themselves.
Is there an ideal route to take seeing as it's going to need a full overhaul as my 1.1 is 3 stud, non abs, ARB bolted to the arms instead of drop links etc, should we jump straight in at changing engines or hit the suspension, interior etc before the engine?
Can the rear discs be pulled off one car and replace the drums on the other or will it be a whole axle change? (No idea what state the disc axle is in until I see the car myself)
Also, from what I've been told, the wheels and driveshafts have been sold off the vts. I know the shafts on the 1.1 won't handle the power of a vts otherwise he could of used them but I can get hold of a set of shafts from a vtr, obviously non abs, will the non abs shafts be ok to fit into abs hubs and go without the abs until he can get the right shafts?
I've suggested that they concentrate on getting the interior changed so all the looms are in place, followed by suspension etc and get the engine in last so they get time to replace anything on the engine in between jobs (belts etc) but I've never had to do a swap from a 1.1 to a 1.6 so not sure of the best route, only ever done replacement engines so not had to worry about changes in power etc.
Any advice would be great weather I do lend them a hand or not as I'd at least be able to give them some pointers from views of people more experienced.
