gearbox noises

Recently my diff shat itself so long story short i had my old spare box rebuilt ( new bearings and some new syncros for 3rd), once i fitted it within about a minute i get a rattle that goes when you press the clutch unless your driving then it will only stop if you take it out of gear. It also goes up slightly with the speed of the engine but only up to say 2/2.5k rpm then it goes quite.

I took it back to the gearbox rebuilders and they said its deff the release bearing, so i changed it again (aleady fitted a new one when i fitted the box) and its still making the same noise.

Could it be ive just had 2 dodgy release bearings or is the box playing up? I cant take it back till monday next week as they've broken up now but im just after ideas as the noise is driving me mad and i refuse to take it apart again if i dont have to.

    Cheers dan

Is your manifold downpipe bolted to the gearbox? If not it'll cause a rattle.

Common problem, also the bolt can shear if the engine mounts are worn.
