Gearbox problem

  1. #1
I removed the gearbox today and think I knocked it into gear whilst removing it does this matter when putting the box back on?
  2. #2
Has anybody got any advice as I'm refitting the box in the morning cheers

no, just take it back out of gear using the selector rods on the back of the box. the rod should be central when its in neutral.

Now have a new problem box back on, speedo is moving when in neutral and when I rev it , it goes up

Chck any sensors and any of the wires that go with them, that are located on the box or near to it.

Is the speedo sensor the one at the back of the box?

Not sure mate, iirc there are 2 sensors and 1 switch.ie speed sensor crank sensor and reversing light switch.crank sensor is on the front of the box.

They are all connected along with all earths, there is only one driveshaft in the box at minute as I'm waiting for a new 1 would this cause the speedo to move by any chance?

Only possibly if you jacked up the car put it in gear started it,then manually rotated the wheel.

    Looks like new sensor then

With only one driveshaft in it will cause it to act like it is moving if it is in gear. It's not the sensor.
