Axle replacement vtr

Replacing the axle on the VTR because its buggered, didn't really want to do it as I'm looking for a new car but the wheels are now touching the arches so got to be done..

Anyway what do I do with the brake lines do I need to disconnect them if so what size brake line spanner?

Have done it once before but can't remember much as it was a while ago.. Far as I remember it's 4 bolts for the axle, disconnect handbrake cables, remove backbox.. Disconnect brake lines at the bias valve or at the calipers?

    Cheers

Unbolt shocks as well, can't help with brake lines though mate.

    Exhaust off
    Hand Brake Cables Dissconnected.
Disconnect Brake Lines to the Bias Valve
Undo the few plastic clips holding the lines in place
    Four bolts
Axle off and wheel it out
    Swap everything and back on

You'll probably mash the bearings when you try to pull them off so new bearings are complete rear hub is a must.

I've got a pretty good method for keeping the bearings intact so think I'll be ok with those.

Only thing I'm not sure on is do I need to do anything with the brake lines when I disconnect them I.e clamp them off or am I ok just letting them drip a bit then obviously bleeding and topping up brake fluid ?

I managed to leave all my brake lines connected when I changed my axle you have to unbolt the compensator valve either way

I'd just re bleed the brakes, less off a piss about in the long run.

I managed to salvage the bearings mate using various pullers and pressing tools, just be gentle and take your time.

You can buy little brake hose clamps yea but I just let my brake fluid drain out and bled the whole system afterwards. I was wary of doing this as I worry about flipping the seals in older master cylinders but I didn't have any problems
