finally started

right then peeps, i've managed to get my vts engine started in my mini, it was turning over but had no spark, as in the case of other members cars!!!
I finally found the fault, it was nothing to do with the ECU, or the immobiliser, I checked every circuit and it had me baffled, until I went to the fuse box and checked it over, and there it was, and bad connection, corroded terminal on a 20amp which controls the injection relay, I cleaned up the rest of fuse box and hey presto, it starts!!!!

so, to sum it up, if you have no spark, and the immobiliser and ECU is ok, then just have a look at the fuse box

That's pretty cool. Get a progress thread up in the non-Saxo section!

How much does a Mini shell weigh in comparison to a Saxo?

    Cheers!!!
A standard mini is roughly 620kg, a saxo vts is 935kg, but the saxo engine and box is 20kg heavier than an A series, so saving around 300kg!!! So it shove a long quite nicely!!

Wow a fair bit lighter then! Looks awesome, love the clubman front end.

I love this, must admit that pic of the wiring loom would have me crying my eyes out.

thanks guys, it has taken me 18 months to get this far, the wiring is a pain in the rear, but, i'm an electrician by trade, so its not TOOOO bad, I have to remember that its 12v not 230v! I just need to remove the electric window circuit, oh and the lights (front and rear), wipers (front and rear), heater...... and so on, I need to make sure not to cut too much out!

Nice build this, good alternative to using K-series but still keeping a PSA derived gearbox etc
