clutch slipping..

Didn't want to take over someone else's thread so I've made my own.

Basically, I've had an engine replacement on my gti and the old box and clutch was reused on the new engine. The clutch was pretty much brand new.

Its been fine for a month of 2 but now the clutch is slipping. If you accelerate gradually it seems ok, but if you floor it in 4th for example the revs rise like mad with little increase in speed. Same for most gears.

The cable is an auto adjust one and has been reset but its still doing the same thing, if not worse.

There's a slight whine but I'm not sure if its normal or not really. Gearbox doesn't crunch or refuse to select any gears.

    What could it be?!

Hey mate, I had a go at fixing mine before the box comes off, I adjusted the cable so it bites higher, and it has helped, I can floor it and its pulling hard again, give it a go

How do you adjust the cable if its an auto adjuster though? I've done the 'press the clutch then let your foot slide off so it springs back up' thing but its only made the biting point higher and not made any difference with the slipping.

Its very quickly developed the whining sound and almost a slight rattle if you listen carefully. I'm thinking it's the box

    Thanks for the reply.
