#2A leak perhaps?
-
#3i did think that so i put cardboard on garage floor see but nothing is leaking out and all seems tidy round engine not showing any leaks anywhere
-
#4How much did you put in?
-
#6any blue smoke coming from your exhaust? that indicates that your burning oil if there is... but its highly unlikely to burning that fast if it is
-
#7Post a pic of the dip stick.

#8The oil is going to be very clear now and difficult to see on the dipstick, bear that in mind.
My advice would be to have a look again, if it's definitely dry just put some more in until it's at the right level. You might've under filled it. You can always drain it out if you over do it. -
#9You'll not get every drop of oil out and I find even with a new oil filter I hardly put much more than 3 litres in, so where your oil has gone is a mystery .Other than a longer dipstick , is your car parked on a hill?

#10You need a longer dipstick.

#11How long did you drive with the oil light on?
If it was any more than 20 seconds, your car is going to go ping a few miles down the line so get rid of it asap.
It's an oil PRESSURE light, not a level light. -
#12Check the cooling system for oil.You might have a head gasket problem and the engine is leaking oil to the water cooling system!
