Power steering temperamental

   I have a 2000 vtr and the power steering is temperamental, it just starts and stops working at any time and it seems to be getting worse. There is also (usually when the pas is on) a relay in the car that goes mental and clicks for ages. Also when turning the key for the first time it doesn't usually start it just makes a wurr noise. it starts second time tho.
   Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

   half a wild guess, I think your indicator stalk needs replacing or has moisture trapped inside

   just had a new battery so ill look into the alternator.

   OK thanks ill look into this, had a leaky roof as well so it could have caused the moisture.

   I'd say check your earth contacts too...
   
   If you have a hair drier, use that on a mild setting and warm the stalk up for a couple of minutes, see if that does anything.
