stupid heater blower question

   Should the heater blower work when the car isn't running?.I know stupid question,just trying to eliminate a possible problem

   Where would the energy to run it come from?
   It's an old car so it uses the engine to generate the heat needed

   Not the heat,but the fan motor.think I've read it uses the alternator to power it.is this correct?.

   The alternator only charges the battery,it's the battery itself that ultimately powers the motor.the blower motor does not work on a saxo with the engine not running unless you have a faulty ignition switch.

   If the engine is too hot, fan on the radiator can run for a while, even ignition is off. It happened when my thermostat was fckd...

   That happens on all saxo's regardless of the thermostat condition mate.

   ok, I didn' t know, because since I replaced it, the temp wasn' t high enough to turn it on :-)
