front inner arch rust!

    Simple question, as follows!

I have a Y reg Vtr that looks really clean. I have put a fair bit back to standards and in doing so found that the majority of the inner front arches are rotten! Drivers side under the ecu you can put your fist through it and passenger side under the fuse box about 3 fingers through the rot!
Is it worth while welding this up (I have a welder) or is it likely to have spread into the front chassis legs, inducing death (my first thought was "fucking scrap it")!

Also there has been some sort of bad weldy pigeon shit patch from near the wishbone mount to the front corner of the passenger floor that I didn't know was there. Sort of thinking along the lines of if it's getting welded dump a 16v engine in there as it's easiest to weld when the engine is out. Why would you want to dump a shitty 8v back in it??

    Thoughts please

First thought would be to look for a decent condition 16v and save yourself a lot of hassle. It will probably cost you less money.

As in a complete vts without the rust issues? Really struggled to fimd one, hence the vtr.

It's upto you (obviously) but they all rust around that area eventually I think your better off keeping the car you've got at the end of the day saxos are getting old now so even if you do go buy another one your just buying new problems, stick with what you know? Just my opinion!

get it sorted out mate, you will surely find another in the exact same condition, I looked at a couple before I bought my vtr I have now. they were rusted under ecu and fuse box badly, thought the vtr was immaculate and I managed to poke a small hole through in the same areas. depends on how much effort you really want to put in?
