Right, I've checked the arb plate, checked for camber, tyres are all even, and there's no play at all in the wheels. But I'm getting clanking/banging from the rear over slight bumps in the road, and can only lead to being the axle surely (doesn't sound like it's the exhaust knocking, that's also firm and secure). What else is there to check? Was originally going to be getting it lowered this weekend, but the noises have told me otherwise.

#2Shock absorber bolts nice and tight?

#4Was going to suggest giving the shocks a good check over, sounds more like a worn bush there than anything else.1 user thanked this post:

#5Can't diagnose anything from just looking underneath the car, tried rocking it but made no noises at all, nothing seems loose, so will have to be a garage jobby for a check over.

#6Its more than likely the antiroll bar needs tightening back in place using bolt and washers(there is a guide on stickys) does it sounds like two bottles clanging?

#8Hmmm :s

#9I'll bet the sound isn't even coming from the rear.
Check the front suspension.
At the rear, check your boot floor - arch seam. pick off the sealer and lift the carpet off. ANY sign of orange in there warrants further investigation

#10It is the rear, it's fairly obvious. Car is also bare stripped and not a spot of rust anywhere to be seen, everything is solid underneath. I'm more leniant towards the rear shocks currently as stated above, just can't properly check them over.

#11the axle could still be buggered without having play but then im not sure how exactly it could be making a banging noise its more likely to be squeaky or creaky like a rusty old door hinge, not sure if this has been said already but check over all the bolts make sure its all tight too.
