1.1 Turbo How Fast/Faster ?

  1. #1
if u was to turbo a 1.1 how much faster would the be?

    what bhp ish?

and would it be as fast as say a 1.4 ?

    dont know much about engines...sorry
  2. #2
i would say a 1.1 turbo should be able to keep up with a vtr to be honest but the money you would be spending you would be able to vts a saxo for half the price
  3. #3
it would be interesting to do if the money was going spare :-)
  4. #4
a 1.1 engine thats not ment for a turbo won't last very long lol!

smart cars have 600cc turbos, dahatsui charade gtti's are 1.0 turbos...so why is a 1.1 not meant to have a turbo???

if he customises a 1.1 tu properly and turbos it, it will handle the power.....but as people say, a vts conversion would be cheaper and better!

A saxo 1.6 16v engine isnt "supposed" to be turbo'ed really.

Components are uprated to deal with the extra power. So the same theory I
would of thought applies to a 1.1 engine. uprate the internals and Im sure it
will run fine. But of course quality costs..

    Isn't Sophia_bush on here doing a 1.1 turbo?

    I'll have a search

    EDIT:Click me...

    thanks hannah!!

btw all in costs for this stands me less than 1500 all in mapped up

Nah, it will be v.difficult to get the 1.1 as quick as a VTR. 1.4 maybe, but remember the small engine won't be able to handle anything other than very low boost without upgrading most of the components. To be frank, its a bit of a waste. Different isn't always the best. But if you just want something individual and money isn't an issue, then go for it

well tbh if you guys who know want to say how much bhp it has I don't mind now as car is pretty reliable now and only small things to sort on it.

NOt as fast as a VTR hmmm well good thing I got an electronice boost controller now that VTR must have been very unhappy he felt only 10psi and not the full fat
  15. #15
you can pm me, i dont know "tear"

  18. #18
lol steve its ok mate well if im not about be free to.

141bhp and 130flb of torque on the run in map, now it is run in I need to sort the oil leak before I can get back on the rollers to have the map looked at and fettled with.

Rolling roads wont let me on incase the oil really does spill out so need to sort that first but will try and get some videos this week if I can manage to hold the camera and drive at the same tiem!

141bhp and 130lb ft from just a 1.1?!.. Hats off, thats impressive.

gafa tape the camera to a hat then wear it while driving lol
  21. #21
haha yeah erm will see how I can get it done lol

Its actually easier to boost the smaller engines. There is no reason you could not boost a 1.1 to a point it could easily see off a VTS with fast road cams in.
  23. #23
a mate of mine who done a bit of rally and done his charade - larger turbo all the gubbings 175bhp dont know what torque it had,

but one of the best laughs ever !!!!

What boost pressure was that run at if you don’t mind me asking?
  27. #27
lol jsut buy a evo or honda s2000 engine and wack that in lol. Fensport will put a 4agze engine in for just over a grand looking a 20v 5 cylinder 1.6 supercharged japense of peice of art runs at around 170bhp try that :~)

The reason most boosted saxos are not running much over 200bhp is because things start to fail. Its mostly the drive train that is the problem. The smaller engines are still tuff. So its easy to throw enough boost at it as to over spec the standard drive train. Even at 200bhp people tend to be running LSDs and race clutches. Where as a VTS engine could see well over 400bhp. So in many ways its a lot easier boost the smaller engines as its easy to see big gains in power of the stock engine with out braking the rest of the car. 200bhp form a 1.4 puts the same load on the rest of the car as 200bhp from a VTS. However the smaller engines do have a few week links but you can just pinch those parts from a bigger engine car in the scrap yard. As said they also have lower compression as standard. I would tend to go for a 1.4 if I was to boost a car. This is because its easy to get them past what the stock drive train will take and most of the parts to get good power from the engine can be had off other PSA engine. Such as low comp pistons and low comp big valve heads. That or a 1 for a bit of fun lol. If you want big big power and can spend 10K pluss on a box it would be best to go for a VTS. Or with that much cash you may as well use a XU or even EW

    lets think

    turbo £100
    downpipe and mani adaptor £30
    modded sump £free
    Intercooler £80
    Boost pipes £100
Various extra samco, oil hoses, vac lines £50
Dastek and turbo map controller £110
    VTS injectors £30
    Mapping £250
    2bar map sensor £40
    Dumpvalve £20
    Oil and Spark Plugs £30
    decompression plate and sealant £130
    new battery £30

comes to £980 but I am pretty sure there are odds and sods I have missed, call it less than 1500 to be on the safe side, but defo no more, worked this out a few weeks back and was amazed I didnt spend more
