Decat question

  1. #1
Recently bought a 2003 mk2 vts and it has a four branch mani on it and a straight through exhaust, I was planning on buying a supersprint 4-2-1 mani, will the supersprint fit onto a mk2 cat? Or is there any other way off getting around this? Needs an mot end of July and want to have it ready

Would the mani fit directly onto this for example?

OK the mk2 saxos had the cat in the manifold, so no it wouldn't but the link you posted is a mk1 cat which sits under the car and yes it would fit, just make sure the rest of your exhuast system will account for it, with the right connections some slide over each other and clamp, some slided together and clamp, hope that helps

i went and got this so you can understand me more, and what you should check for (pictures from sportex)
    Mk 1 centre

    Mk 2 centre/decat

far as im aware you cant mix the two join types

    what exhaust system is fitted?
If the backbox is compatible then you can just buy a VTS Cat and centre pipe then fit this for the MOT, then swap back again.

Isnt the cat for the mk2 Vts in the down pipe not in the mani? am looking to get a complete new system anway as the current one is goosed. But am still want to have a cat fitted all the time? also its an unknown 4 branch manifold with magnex exhaust with decat

Only the VTR has it in the manifold. Both VTS versions had it under the car although they were two different sizes.

So would it be possible to fit a supersprint mani with a cat and then the supersprint exhaust system?
  9. #9
or if anyone could recommend a setup

    You can do that combination.

Basically you have to match up your catalytic converter to the cat back pipe so make sure you buy either a phase 1 or a phase 2 setup. Early Supersprint Cat back is the cheapest version.

    Basically you would have
Supersprint 4-2-1 --> standard Cat --> Cat Back Pipe --> Backbox

Think that's what I'll go for then, guess the 4-2-1 has holes for the sensor then I'll sleeve the other one?
