Lacquer is flaking particularly on the bonnet and mirrors..

    Hi guys,

Yeah I heard it's a problem with French cars of this sort of age, where the lacquer on the paintwork begins to flake and form like an air bubble. It isn't horrific but theres a few spots on the bonnet, roof and mirrors.

Is the best way to tackle it to sand away the chipped lacquer, respray the part with the right colour spray then lacquer it over the top? Or is there a better way?

    Cheers!

Doubt you'll do a good job without respraying the full panels where the flaking is

Do not sand down the bubbles and spray over as your car will look worse. You'll need to sand down each panel that has bubbles on it and spray the whole panel.
