Aftermarket cone air filter, will it be a pain, and is it cleanable?

   Doesn't appear to be branded, but I've read these AM filters can soak up unnecessary heat from the engine, is this true? Am I better off getting an OEM VTR airbox and maybe just switching out the panel filter?
   
   
   How can you tell if it's overheating whilst driving?
   
   Finally if there's no need to replace it (it does look kinda cool) I think it's made from cotton gauze, this is cleanable right?

   I can only see threads up to a month old, Pretty strange tbh. But yes since posting a million threads I've searched elsewhere and just about got the answers I need.
