Speedo Problem

   My speedo has suddenly stopped working, the rev counter still works and all the displays.
   
   Its a mk1 saxo I think
   
   Any idea what could cause this, it was working, but has now stopped :/
   
   Before I bought the car the dials were swapped to the VTR dials, but they were working so I don't think that would be the cause.
   
   Any ideas anybody?

   Sorry for the late reply, I forgot that I posted this.
   
   That's what I think it was there was a wire hanging down under the car that was damaged, I have replaced & secured it and the speedo is working again now.
