Coilovers

    Right getting some coilovers soon how easy are they to fit getting the cheaper gaz ones off kam racing as iv been told there the best for money Im fairly competent at working on cars lowerd my rear been self on a t reg saxo vtr tastey job and the front with springs but I would like some coilovers now I know the front strut and hub set up is abit different on these so how do the coilovers work exactly any help

    Take the strut off, compress the spring and undo the top mount.

    Remove the top mount and spring.

    Undo the big shock retaining nut and loose the dampner.

    Knock the bottom spring pan off with a hammer, then grind off the little dimples which were holding the bottom pan on.

    Fit the threaded collar and new dampner.

    Fit the spring.

    You might want to fit new top mounts and bearing while you have the chance.

    Do the top but up and done.

    After all that it's just refitting the strut and setting it to the desired hight.

    The Gaz GHA coilovers are dead easy to fit. I would certainly change the top mounts at the same time. I hate removing suspension too soon lol

    The next step up from the Gaz is probably the BC Racing Coilovers. These use monotube dampers so give a better damping quality.

    Both kits can be supplied with springs to suit your driving conditions, whether road or track...

    standard. Personally I think they work fine for everyday use. Makes everything a little quieter..
