2003 saxo wont start

    Hello guys,

I've got quite a problem here. Yesterday I came back from work, parked my car and as I was just about to exit I heard a similar sound to the radio being cut off even though the radio was off. I didn't bother checking as I thought that it's nothing major. Today as I was trying to get into my car I noticed that my immobiliser is not working so I had to to unlock manually. I noticed that once you turn the key parking brake light comes on (and fades away in a second) and oil and air bag lights come on but are not clear as usual and once I try to fire nothing happens. I can hear a click coming somewhere where the fuse box is. Any ideas of what can this be? I dont really want to spend a fortune to get a recovery service and rather try and see if I can fix it myself.

    Thank you.

I would start by disconnecting the battery for ten minutes, usually with weird electrical faults in these cars disconnecting the battery seems to work lol as for the ticking is this when you try turning the engine over? That would be the starter relay going ape, may be a fubared starter possibly. Also making sure the battery is reading over 12v.

I agree, the first thing to do would be to check the battery, do the headlights come on and shine bright? Do they dim if you try to start the car?

New battery needed. Had same problem to my 2003 VTS saxo come to open doors would open. Come to turning key in and car would not turn over proper enough to start car, checked the lights on dash dim has hell and faded right out when turning car over. Got emergency jump connected to get started got tester on battery. Battery was not holding charge proper in it or held not for long. Opened up the parts to see if fluids needed topping up and one section was bubbling looked bad. Replaced battery worked fine ever since..
