Power Steering Not working

  1. #1
    Hi guys!

Would just like to say hello again as it has been a long long time since I have been on these forums. I have owned a saxo as my first car and have never wanted to get rid of it. So it sits on my driveway but would like to now clean it up and fix all the little problems.

I have not moved it in a while but started it up again today...and it works! After a few years of not moving.

I'm rambing on a little but the problem currently is that the power steering does not work. Last time before changing the clutch ourselves, it worked fine. I believe it is probably a connection which has not been plugged in or something? But if anyone could guide me in the right direction (which cable is the power steering) or any other things I could check which may be the issue?

Thanks again and hope to be posting a lot more again on the forums!

Is the grey relay under the battery plugged in?

It was my daily running car before I took it off the road to replace the clutch. It was after the job was completed it stopped working.

    Hello mate .
I had probs on my old VTR , it turned out that water was getting in to where it plugs in and corrosion set in , had a electrician check it out as I spent money on a new pump changed it over and nothing ! , so he cut the wires reconnected new wires / new plug and relay and bam all sorted ! .

Sounds very similar to mine. May possibly be the wires! A lot of corrosion within the engine bay especially around the pump. Will change the wires over the next few weeks and try changing the pump also...fingers crossed it will work after!

Also wrap up the plug with tape too , keeps out more damp

Start the car & give the pump a gentle tap with a hammer, see if that works.
