URGENT fuel problem

  1. #1
    Hi,

I have a really strange problem. I have a 2003 VTS - my Cambelt snapped the other week, so I bought a 2nd hand head (which looked completely fine, it was a mk1 vts head on my mk2), gasket kit and Cambelt. Fitted everything, and the car does not start. It cranks then briefly fires, but will die every single time. I have literally checked everything, played with the timing, checked everything is times up properlt and everything seems to be in position. I have taken the inlet manifold back off and the injectors are squirting fuel and there is no blockages

I unplugged the fuel hose and I started the car while my friend squirted it into the air intake. The car then started and RAN and revved fine until we stopped putting fuel into it and it burnt all of it. It was even running off brake cleaner when we squirted that in.

We are literally tearing our hair out as to what it could be.

Does anyone have any idea ?? Help would be much appreciated

if your cambelt snapped, then I imagine you've bent some valves?

    Check the injectors are working

Yes I bent half of the valves. But I bought a whole cylinder head and the valves seem to be fine, it was quit a clean head - I have got the car running when I put fuel into the air Intake.

And my injectors are working, as I said when I took the inlet off to have a look, I cranked the engine and they were squirting. I literally have no idea what it could be

tried any sensors? crank sensor etc?

so it runs off brake cleaner but doesnt run off the petrol in the car? check your spark plugs for anything (oil etc)

as said above check all the sensors in the inlet manifold. throttle body etc give it all a clean and make sure the wires running into the sensors havent pulled out

    double check your timing also.

I'm only a beginner at this but is it possible for the injectors to spray into atmospheric pressure but fail into compressed air?
