Hub nut

  1. #1
Hi ive been trying to get my hub nut off, and it wont budge does it turn clockwise or anti clockwise? Cheers
  2. #2
Anti clockwise to slacken it, normally a 1m long bar is required to help get them off.

A good breaker bar will help.

I know its a stupid question but will it work if I use an adjustable spanner?
  5. #5
nope you need something about 5 times the size of that lol

Is it a 32m socket I need? Cheers

Make sure the cars on the ground, handbrake on and in gear. Maybe have someone in the car applying the footbrake.

if you imagine the wheel as a clockface try pushing down against the weight of the car, towards 8 o'clock

    I did mine last week

Have you unstaked the nut? It's do-able without, but makes the job a whole lot easier.

You ideally need a breaker bar and a decent socket thats the right size

nut i removed was staked and i had to drill the 'staked' bits out. The one I replaced it with was a nyloc

Was the staked part like a big circlip? If so you grip with long nose pliers & tap the pliers with a hammer.

If you get stuck I can pop over and lend you a breaker bar

nah, theres a divit in the end of the shaft that lines up with the hubnut, you then use a punch to drive the nut into it
