Just bought myself a nice 3-point Schroth harness, not top of the range by any means but will look nice in my ornament of a car that I rarely use. I've fitted a few harnesses before so no worries I thought but after reading the schroth fitting guide I'm now in two minds as it says not to bolt the tail strap under the rear bench as this can cause injury or even death! It's saying it must be bolted to the C-pillar! I've never seen anyone bolt one up there before so I've googled it and people's opinion is 50/50 and looks like either location has its list of potential injuries. Where do you think I should bolt the tail strap to? Just looks odd strapped up there

#2Most show and many track day harness setups I have seen are death traps. With out knowing much about the harnesses you have I can't say to much. But yes with normal 3 point diagonal strap belts you would have to mount them on the b pillar or equivalent position solid mounting point. But if the are normal harnesses with a single tie at the back then you have to start thinking about loads positioning a little more. You would first have to fit a seat suitable for such loadings or a role cage with belt bar. The msa blue book is a good guide for safe harness fitting.

#3Hi bud thanks for the info so far... The seat is a recaro from an Evo 2, it tilts and slides and has harness slots. The harness is a Schroth Rallye 3 with the asm rear tail. I have an OMP TRS seat in my Saxo with a 3-point OMP harness bolted under the rear bench which was how I'd intended securing the Schroth to the Evo but the Scroth fitment guide warns you not to saying it must bolt to the C-pillar... I've never seen one bolted there before which is why I'm querying it

#4Is it advisable to have a slide and tilt seat with a harness. It doesn't matter how good the harness points are, surely the weakness would be in the frame of the seat?????????? That is where i would concentrate my attention for safety!

#5Plenty of cars with tilting/sliding seats driving round with harnesses fitted - although I'm not saying it's right.
I have emailed Schroth direct in Germany and they have replied with...
Thanks for your email.
We did not proof the car, therefrom we must not give you a recommendation which mounting point you should take. We believe the D-point would be the best anchor point, however, please note this is not approved. Do you need a TUV approval (e.g.) in England? In Germany we would advise the customer to ask them for the right mounting point and let them make a individual approval.
Hope this helps anyway.
Kind regards
