OBD not working / reading.

   So, I acquired a Vtr today. 2003 model, after charging the battery I tried plugging in two code readers and none of them came on. (Wanted to see why it wasn't starting, was the fuel pump)
   
   But now wondering why the OBD doesn't turn the code readers on....

   Being a 2003 car it should be OBD2 compatiable. Mine only works if I have the key turned to the final point before it fires up.

   Yes as with all cars, ignition must be on or engine running but normally just ignition on!

   Yea didn't work with ignition on. Will try when I've replaced fuel pump.

   So, now the battery has been charged and the fuel pump has been replaced oh and the the fuse for OBD.... It now works, sort of. My machine doesn't link.
