Vibra-Technics engine mounts worn, tattered spongy

I've got a problem with the Saxo VTS FAST ROAD engine mounts, I bought these in spring 2012, since sommer 2012 these were installed and I was very happy with them.

Since 2015 I realised time after time, that my engine feels spongier. Last time I had the ECU plate off, I saw that the upper big washer has fully set into the rubber, also the rubber ring above the lowest big washer feels kind of tattered. On photos you can even see that it is tattered. I am pretty shure that the mount is worn or the big rubber unit is broken, well not totally yet.

I made photos, also on the gearbox site, there has the big rubber unit also set down for a few mm.

I know this isn't normal, any of you guys got the same problems?

I am thinking about buying the BM Baker ones, but really pissed off, that the expensive Vibra-Technics worn that quick.

I'd be writing to Vibra-technics if it were me. That can't be right, even for a 3 year old product.

I wrote direct to VIBRA-TECHNICS as they are the manufacturer, their answer:

The warranty is about 12 months was the answer, I also should contact the seller, in my case SPOOX.

So I did, but shure Spoox is a distributor and couldn't do more as also contact Vibra, so they did.

Spoox is sorry about that Vibra won't help or offer a reduced price for inserts only. As the alloy surroundigs are fine.

So the total mounts are ready for the trash bin.

I will buy BM Baker mounts as they seem to be a lot more durable.

Its a shame when a company will not offer a cheaper solution to refreshing the engine mount when it would so easily be possible.
The Baker BM top mount uses the same mount as the gearbox so its easily replaceable when the rubber finally softens.

Exactly, I will try to contact a distributor in the Netherlands for BM Baker parts, otherwise I came back to you Kev!

    Thanks

Hope I'll happy with these, got already the lower mount by Powerflex and the grp A fork from BM Baker.

my question is which mounts --road or comp --rubber is different hardness
i can only say i have never had any problems with them --but always fit comp type

you can buy the rubber bits seperatly if you wish anyway
you don,t have to replace the complete things

also have they been contaminated with oil at some time ?
    and what sort of use?
    what bhp is car ?

did you fit the complete set including the lower one?
cos if you didn,t maybe the lower one is too soft wich has over loaded the others
    which is what i suspect

and to be fair idoubt you are driving like a granny --so things will wear out quicker -- 3 years --seen std ones driven knacked in 1 year
I snapped astd one with an s/c fitted engine near climbed out of the bonnet

I got the Vibra road mounts, as the were new the rubber was very soft but firm compressed due the center bolt tightening.

As the lower bush I use the Powerflex purple + the BM Baker grp. A solid fork bush.

I'd were very happy if I could buy something separately, but Vibra didn't offer something to me, I should bougt complete new ones!

My Saxo is about 830kg with half tank, engine is about 130-140 bhp with lightened flywheel and a 14x60 FDR

Never contaminated with oil or something similar, I have done 50.000 kilometers with them, mostly fast road, on country roads and sometimes Nordschleife.

Maybe that was to much, a friend of mine uses the Baker ones with the same usage. He never got problems.

Hi Kev, thanks for the turbo fast shipping.

    Is DHL-Express your standard shipping?

Yes. We can send things overnight but it tends to be rather expensive - at least double the price.

as i supected you did not use the matching lower link --that will be the main reason i think --look on vibra website and just pick the mounting part only -isuggest comp type

Thanks to KAMRACING for the fast delivery of the new mounts!

Yes but the lower Powerflex + Baker grp.A fork bush, seems to be harder as a Vibra lower bush only.

I took the Vibra-Technics off, the rubber in the insert is kind of melted and worn and has fissures.

Pretty soften as an oe mount or even more.

Now with the BM Baker ones vibrations are as hell, on idle its fine but with some revs it gets bloody.

I will drive a while maybe I will take off the alloy insert of the Bakers top mount.

should be 2 bushs to replace in bottom steady bar
one on the bar and one on the g/box mounting if i rememeber correctly
  14. #14
Did you order the additional metal insert? If so, it will make everything vibrate a lot more. Take that out and try without. We usually recommend not having that in for road cars.

Ok, but on the gearbox mount it should stay?
  16. #16
    yes. Thats correct
  17. #17
Top Mount - worn melted sagged

  18. #18
    Gearbox Mount - worn sagged

Curiously both rubber rings aren't worn, melted & sagged.

It is always the rubber of the inserts.
