Wiring diagram needed!

  1. #1
It's a long shot but does anyone have a wiring diagram for the airbag system on a mk1 vts 99 plate (cross over year, seems to have a mk2 loom).

I'm mainly interested in the brown plug from the ecu but after looking everywhere on Google, having no luck, I'm hoping there may be some citroen specialists or auto electricians with new ideas. It may be a case that I just need to reset the ecu but don't have a scan tool but plan on ordering one next week..... here's a run down of the problem and the reason I'm after a diagram

    Take the airbag loom out.

Ideally I'd rather leave it in there, I know from past experience the airbags are possibly never going to work but the pretensioners did in an old vtr. Only want to keep it as my 5 year old son is always in the car so want to keep the safety for his sake. At the moment it is completly unplugged but the car isn't in full use yet

Okay. That's totally understandable I would be the same. What you would be best doing is contact anyone on here and possibly eBay that is breaking a vts as they might have what you need. I threw mine away as I pull them out and don't use them.

I do have a 1.1 loom as well as the vts loom but the brown plugs are different pin layouts (1.1 loom has 4 pins, the vts has 3) also the 1.1 loom isn't built for the passenger airbag. At the moment it's just a case of trying to find out what each pin of the brown plug is doing, it's on a conversion, everything is working as it should except the air bag system but had no warnings before the conversion and I've swapped everything over so started to wonder if I've connected something wrong somewhere or if the faults need manually deleting and then retesting on the airbag ecu as I had a "trigger 2 open circuit" fault and was advised to solder the wires under the seats but have also gone onto trying resistors etc aswell but now lost on where the fault can be until I get a diagnostic tool of my own which will be ordered Tuesday.

Is the conversion from vtr to vts? Was full full vts wiring loom used or just engine wiring loom?

I've done 1.1 to vts, swapped everything, you name it, it was swapped so basically the only part of the car that is not from the vts is the shell. During the conversion the dash, seats, drivers airbag and ecu were stored under the stairs so kept dry and out the way of being damaged. Had questioned the possibility of being disconnected for a month if it could upset the ecu but been told that's very unlikely to happen and the diagnostic only showed the one fault after reconnecting according to the garage.

Okay. What was the fault code saying?

I didn't personally see it but the garage told me it was trigger 2 open circuit (the car was in for dvla checks so I asked if they could scan it). The garage was a citroen specialist who advised to cut the wires under the seats and re solder them to get a decent join (also recommended by people on here), did that but still had the flashing light so I've also tried 2.2 ohm resistors in the plugs at the seats and the airbags but again, no luck. Planning on ordering a diagnostic tool on Tuesday that also does the airbag ecu so hopefully I can manually reset it and do a re scan as a friend of mine has said usually the open circuit faults stay logged rather than a self reset, no idea how true that is as I've never messed with diagnostic tests, I'm more of a listen to the engine and find faults or fit audio/security but even continuity testing hasn't gone as well as I hoped.
