Exhaust worth it?

I'm looking to do a few mods to my saxo vtr.
I have looked at the saxsport exhausts and similar.
What I'd really like to know is, are they worth it for the extra power?
I know a lot of people recommend big induction kits and the vts induction scoops etc. but with my experience of them they seem to sap the power.
I test drove about 7 Saxo's and the best pulling engines had no aftermarket induction. I wondered wether this was the same with the exhausts?
    Thanks

Ive got a 5 inch back box on mine and it seems pretty sluggish. i would have thought a something like a 2.5 inch bore would be okay but a bore too big will just loose all the back pressure im guessing?

    Exactly^^

Thought so Plus a 5 inch back box makes literally every one of your neighbours hate you. Just another upside of a smaller bore haha

Someone else in another thread hit the nail on the head,
'Those in the know use the standard airbox'

Get yourself a decent panel filter and a nice cold air feed. Never got hold of a vts induction but i can't imagine they'd give a negative effect, compare that scoop to the standard vtr one. Two words, 'surface' + 'area', it's a MUCH bigger scoop!

If its just breathing mods 2" is plenty big enough. I think some of the guys used 2.5" for a turbo one, so...
If you're on a PROPER budget, 1.1 or diesel centre pipe. it's a BIT restrictive top end as it's a whole 3.5mm smaller diameter than a race pipe, but i think it sounds quite nice. Lovely and raspy, got it for a tenner at scrappy's so talk about bang for buck.

The VTR loves a 50mm bore system. With a manifold and straight through system you can gain 12bhp (without the cat). I've had customers with a full Supersprint System / Manifold claiming 15bhp gain when they've done rolling road back to back tests
Why would you want to lower power with a restrictive exhaust? You might as well fit that induction kit at the same time to sound better

Got the Kam Racing / Supersprint stainless system on mine the car goes stupidly well compared to stanrd, on a 1.3 rallye
