Vtr to jp4, driveshafts?

Looking at buying a jp4, has a gearbox presumably from a vts or c2? The engines in a 106 at the moment.
I need to drive to pick it up, but I'll need to replace my vtr driveshaft as its knackered and I don't trust it to get me there and back. Its a false economy to buy two sets of driveshafts.
As I say presumably MA box (have asked, slow replies) but do they all use the same driveshafts, like does it just depend on my hub (early ones and later are tapered vs non tapered?)

So it IS to do with the taper, i.e if you had two cars, a 1.1 and a vtr both from the same year, they would use exactly the same driveshafts?

In turn, i can sort out the driveshaft in order to get me up north and back, and use the same shafts for the new gearbox?

1.1 and VTR/S shafts are different, at least on the passenger side. People have used them but the nearside shaft is shorter, see this stolen image:

I am a little unsure of the details on c2 box however, but I think they are hydraulic clutch and if its in a 106 someone must have just used the original 106 box? either way just buy the right shaft for your hubs (easiest way to determine thi - thin securing nut = non taper, thicker nut = taper so yours being an 02 model it will be taper, mines a 1999 mk1 and was a taper).

Worth keeping the box the jp4 engine comes with anything other than a vtr/diesel if its in good nick

Thanks gandi, as you say if its in a 106 i doubt they went to the trouble of changing hydraulic clutch etc more hassle than its worth.
I have asked what box its with but he's REALLY slow at replying, but either way as long as i just get driveshafts to fit my VTR, any MA box should take them ok?

I didnt know if they'd be the same size on the gearbox side, but if they are ones that fit my hub they will be the right fit!

The box the JP4 comes with will be whats going on it, as i say i can only imagine it would be a vts or xsi etc, no one in their right mind WANTS a vtr box!
Main reason for my interest was that it comes as a package deal!

check the gearbox code on the box as not unheard of for people to say its something that its not. I was sold an "xsi" box that way which turned out to be a 1.5 diesel unit but my fault I didn't bother to check.
My latest one is a VTS unit but quite unbelievably it has no code stamped on it which is something PSA just sort of left off on some of the late saxo boxes however the speed in each gear doe work out to a vts spec unit.
And yeah any MA box will work with those shafts providing its not off a TU powered 205 or early ax will but those would be so rare now chances are you'd never find one even if you wanted to.
