New Coil Pack = Low Idle ?

    Hi Guys,

    I broke down two weeks ago and had to call greenflag, the machanic plugged a diagnostic device into the car and it came back with a misfire on 2 cylinders so the mechanic told me my coil pack went i couldnt tow the car home because he would only take me 10 miles.
    A week later i get the coil pack fixed the car is fine runs better but i have one problem that is annoying me ever since the car has been fixed it seems idle lower than before it broke down the car doesnt cut out or stall at all it drives fine.
    Before the car broke it would idle at around 1000 but now its lower i have attached a picture for your viewing to see if its normal or too low, the MOT is due friday FML

    any suggestions are welcome

    Definitely.

    Before the idle was probably higher because it had a weak spark on 2 cylinders, so the ECU raised the idle speed to keep the engine running.

    Thanks Martin that's one thing off my mind now I just hope it passes its mot tomorrow, will keep you updated...

    Yes that's normal,usually it idles at around 750rpm when at working temperature.

    I think the book figure is 850, but since the scale on the tacho isn't great I'll let you off

    I'm pretty sure I read 750 on the manual but I might have gotten that wrong,will re-check tomorrow.

    thats where mine idles and mines fine... so i wouldnt worry... purrrsss like a kitten lol

    Hello everyone

    My car is now hunting hasnt been right since the coil pack went, i went to liverpool yesterday and when i got back i packed my car and the engine was humming very loud which sounded like sh*t and the rev needle was bouncing sounds similar to an exhast when it blows. it passed its MOT and has a small oil leak towards the top of the engine, possibly head gasket when i asked my garage.

    i think im gonna have to start saving for a new car now because this saxo is becoming a pain.
