Clutch?

   When entering motorway or a A road, between 1500-3000rpm in 3rd and 4th gear the car revs high then drops then revs again before calming down to a steady rpm along with the speed of the car. Seems fine in gear 1 and 2. Is this a sign my clutch is on its way out?

   Sounds very much like clutch slip. normally starts to occur in higher gears
   
   4th gear, foot hard down at around 2000rpm and the revs should jump up.
