XSi Gearbox in VTS - What driveshafts ?

  1. #1
Hi everybody, I ´ve just mounted XSi gearbox to my VTS 16v Mk1. I had problem with shorter shaft, because the VTS shaft is a bit shorter than XSi, I mean the end that is coming to the diff. What shall i do ? Sorry for bad language. Thanks a lot for help.

you shouldnt have a problem mounting vts shafts into a "sports" box. The only issue is if you are using a lower spec box such as 1.0 litre or 1.1

    There is the problem.

does your xsi shaft have an intermediate bearing? It looks like the xsi shaft might actually be a low spec model shaft, its probably similar anyway. Can you fit the VTS shaft without it leaking?

No it doesn´t. The shafts one picture are the short ones. It´s possible to use on the passenger side (in uk) the shaft from xsi and on drivers side (witch bearing) vts shaft ?

So... I ´ve found that both shafts from vts does not fit!!

But, I tried to fit in XSi shafts a they fit perfectly. Only trouble, that the longer one is without intermediate beranig.. Could I drive this setup ? Or is there any different way to solve this problem ? thx a lot for advices

without intermediate bearing will be okay

As long as the hub end of the driveshafts are the same as VTS.

So please check me if i can do it this way.

SAxo VTS 16v 1998, old XSi gearbox (smaller diff probably)

And my question is.. Can I use XSi shafts ? On both sides, and with no intermediate bearing. After some possitive reply a i am buying new shafts.. Thx a lot!

you can but torque steer will be increased. As said above, check the ends of the shafts to see if they match the type for your wheel bearing. if they dont you will need older style wheel bearings in your hubs
