Complete engine noob needs advice

  1. #1
Hi guys, I know basically next to nothing about engines so I'd like a bit of advice. I was washing my car today and had a quick look at the engine, and noticed the following:

There seems to be a hole/tear at A and it doesn't appear to be attached at B.

My question is, what is it, is it expensive to fix or do I just need a new one.

I honestly know nothing about engines so please don't take the mick out of me too much

oh, and it's a 1.0i engine, in a Saxo First.

theres a little diaphragm operated flap in the air intake pipe, on a cold start it opens to let warm air from on top of the manifold into the intake to warm it up quicker.

its only found on the SPI models (1.0 and early 1.1) and as said its usually ditched anyway. never had one on mine!

Buy a new bit of ducting or just tape up the hole and push the end at B back in.
