Can any one tell me where the starter motor is in a 1.1 saxo? I think the motor has had it, car won't start and it grinds every now and then. I was told banging the starter motor may help to get it started ?

#2Should be top of gearbox look down the right side of the engine you should see it attached to the top of gearbox
-
#3It's behind the engine connecting to the gearbox - probably have to remove the airbox and it'll be down the back.
-
#4Great thanks (y)

#5Under the inlet manifold on back of engine, 3 13mm bolts, a 13mm nut and an 8mm nut and that's it!
-
#6how do i remove it is it best from underneathe?
-
#7a combination of above (air box and battery tray removed) and underneath, then you can pull it away from the box and remove the cables from above. although when i took mine off i had both driveshafts out and the inlet mani off which gave a lot more access from under and above
-
#8Just undo the clip holding air box to manifold etc, pull the box out of the little rubber bit, the starter's like right there?
I don't understand why you would get underneath it, i changed mine on the drive with all four wheels on the floor? -
#9It's easier to remove from underneath.
-
#10Yeah I've always done mine from on top with all 4 wheels down. Never removed the inlet or anything at all.
Can get to everything easily enough. Just might need a spanner as well as a socket to acces all 3 of the 13mm bolts. Easy peasy
