Push button boot opener

   Hi guys okay I brought another saxo vtr and some one along the line has smoothed over the boot and put an eletric opening button in the dash.
   
   When I viewed the car it worked but now I've had the car a week I think I've only managed to get it open fully a handful of times, some times it will just do a little click so the boot is slightly ajar so I then have to shunt it back to fully closed but for 99% of the time when I push the button nothing happens not clicks it's just silent.
   
   I've tried with the ignition on and off, with the engine running.
   
   I know it's an aftermarket thing but any clues what I should be having a look at or replacing?

   Broken wire?
   Bad earth connection?

   I put the 2 wires together on the switch and it opened the boot so a new switch it is happy days easy fix!

   Can you short out / blow the solenoid up as it went crazy with a new switch an has stopped working all together now fml!!!
