Its time for my rear axle to be sorted out. Im pretty skint at the moment but have found an axle with no play off a vtt pretty cheap but the milage is just below what mine is on now and dead. If I was to buy it and replace the bearings at my mates garage would this prevent the axle from playing up in the near future? Am I right in thinking that the play only happens once the bearing fails and the pin starts to wear? Also would this be easy to do? Cheers

#3Sorry for the thread hijack but I'm just about to rebuild our beam, unfortunately the son knocked the bearings out & when the new ones have come they are 2 different ones per side. One is slightly wider than the other, which goes to the inside of the car & which to the outside, my logic is the outside one would be the slightly wider one but would like confirmation.
