Sunroof STILL leaking despite new sunroof etc.

   When I bought my VTR earlier in the year the sunroof leaked like a sieve.
   
   I bought a replacement sunroof as the old one was sealed shut. I then removed old sunroof, treated some rust in the corners, removed bolt near bonnet release as it was pinching the passenger side drain tube, removed the disintegrating foam on the replacement sunroof, fitted the replacement roof using plenty of Tiger Seal.
   I also removed and re-sealed aerial.
   
   All seemed good and leak free when the car was sat in the rain not being used. However last week I was out driving, turned right and water came in on to my girlfriends head in the passenger seat. FFS!
   
   It seems that the sponge bit in the middle is becoming saturated. Any ideas why before I scrap the POS?

   It can't be getting away down the drains, are they blocked? Sun roof leaks are a pain in this as the drain tube don't meet the channels at the bottom of the sun roof tray they are slightly above. That said the tray is designed for little leaks to flow away it can't deal with masses of water

   Would the passenger side drain tube being partially restricted due to being crushed at the bottom by the bolt near the bonnet release lever be the cause? I have removed the bolt but the drain pipe hasn't returned to its normal shape 100%
