Car battery size

What size battery do I need for a Saxo 1.5 diesel? Battery tray is only 210mm long, the current battery is 210mm (063 fitment) but all the battery sellers say use a 242mm battery - the next size up. There is room for a bigger battery but it would hang off the end of the battery tray by 30mm. Is that normal? The battery fitted by a previous owner is 43Ah and 390CCA, which seems low for a diesel. Anyone know the recommended CCA figure for a Saxo diesel? Can't seem to find a battery much higher power than I already have in 210mm size! Please help!

Go to euro car parts website, enter your reg number. You'll find the correct battery,if you want a heavier duty battery then look at the ampage.

Euro car parts is saying 242mm long battery - is it right that it hangs off the end of the battery tray by 30mm?

fine as long as it's secured with the clamp at the front , done that on several cars before. You want at least a 70 amps battery to run a diesel.

Yeah that's too low a capacity, Halfords and Euro car parts only list batteries for petrol models. So when you enter a diesel models all their system sees is "saxo" and picks a petrol battery.

You need a 60-70Ah Battery if you want reliability. especially in winter. Always wait a few seconds after the glow plug light for a first start on a cold morning.

The correct battery for the Diesel Saxo is an 027 or 013 it is a slightly taller version of the 075 (which you can use BTW).

What's an 013? I think you mean 031 as that's taller - that battery is the reason the securing clamp has ridiculous amount of threads on it to accomodate for both types

Anyways aye, a 27 or a 75 would do the job.

No I don't mean 031 013 is another number used for the same spec as 027.
